Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition PC version confirmed?

As many of you motivated fellows may know, a special edition of 7 year Devil May Cry 4 was announced in conjunction with DmC: Definite edition. While both games serve as remastered iterations of their preceding versions, DMC4: SE caused slightly more internet buzz (and by slightly, I mean most of it) due to the fact that most fans were under the impression that the classic series was dead due to its replacement by DmC and because of the poor sales of DmC itself, which were much smaller than Capcom originally anticipated. With the announcement of both of these games, both fanbases have reinvigorated to the point of elation. So far, details are scant since Vergil is the only thing we know is new about this version despite the fact that we still don't know in which capacity exactly. In terms of platforms, we know a little more as 2 versions were hinted at in the original teaser, which were the current gen consoles Xbox 1 and PS4 but it seems that the game is coming to the PC as well, seeing as it was rated by The game has been rated for the USK, the rating board in Germany.
More information will follow after the release of DmC since Capcom is trying to avoid both versions to cannibalize each other's advertisement. Smart on Capcom's part.

Ace Attorney 5 - Return of Turnabout

We know he's a better lawyer because his coat is open and he has a pocket watch. Little things count the most, man.
Finally, after a Crossover with Professor Layton that probably won't make its way to the west, Capcom announced Ace Attorney 5 for the 3DS along with a confirmation of a western release.

Oh Capcom, you still get it right sometimes.

As you may have noticed, Phoenix looks like a total badass now as he's returning to the courtroom as a defense lawyer after clearing himself from the charges that got him disbarred in Apollo Justice. So far we know that the game is in 3D but in a way to tries to invoke the feeling of 2D, takes place 1 year after Apollo (Making it 8 years after Trials and Tribulations) and that he'll have a brand new assistant. Gameplay wise, we'll have a new system for the cross examination although we don't know how it works. Not much info for now but Capcom said they would reveal more in TGS and later after that. It will be interesting to see how Phoenix's long experience as a lawyer will show in this game and how it's thematically connected to the new gameplay system. And let's not forget about pretty much every reccuring character from the series like Edgeworth, Maya, Pearls, Emma, Gumshoe and even Apollo and Trucy, the adopted daughter of Phoenix.

It's been awhile since we've played with the goofiest, most lovable and entertaining lawyer in video gaming. Let's hope the game brings along a localization for both Investigations 2 and the Layton Crossover if it's successful enough. Personally, I can't wait to see a big OBJECTION bubble projecting from the DS screen in glorious 3D.

Max Payne 3 - Where mixing drugs and alcohol turn you into a one man army

You know a man has seen some dark shit in his life if his facial structure changes completely every other year

So Max Payne 3 has come and gone. Everybody who wanted to play it already did and probably has an established opinion of it but you know, the point of this blog was never to be punctual in the first place, right? After beating Max Payne 3 not once but thrice, what do I think about it and how close that opinion is to my original thoughts about the game?

Dragon May Cry & Diablo 3 - The lootening

That pretty much says it all. I don't even need to elaborate. I don't know what's up with 2012 but for some reason the gaming industry kept most of its A-game for May. I haven't even touched Max Payne 3 and I seriously need to try that too. I'm sorry I've been skipping on reviews and I promise that will eventually come to pass once again in this shell of a gaming blog. I just have to stop playing every second of my free time.

Devil May Cry HD Collection Analysis

After beating Devil May Cry 1, I'm gonna go grab a BIIIIIIITE!!!

So, before Capcom goes through with the polemic, high risk bet that is the DmC reboot, it decided to give the established fanbase a little treat for the franchise's 10th anniversary with a HD collection of the first 3 games which were all on the PS2. Hoping that this collection will be a good remasterization (Not a real word, I know) of some genre defining oldies, I am certain of one thing: It's definitely going to be better than the piece of shit that is the Silent Hill HD Collection.

A short look on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - The Pros and Cons of experimentation

Master, I detect a 98% probability that I am about to state the obvious.

So I finally managed the time to play and beat Skyward Sword. It was long overdue. Mostly everyone and their mother already said their piece about the game but since I'm still fresh from it, might as well say my overall thought about the game. I keep it short, not in the mood to do an actual review. (Been awhile since I've actually done one. Hurray for procrastination!)

Max Payne 3 - The Good, The Bad and The Bald

Max, you're being made by a different development team!

And now for something completely different. On account of my latest guest review of Max Payne, I was reminded that the upcoming sequel and third game of the franchise is about to be released in may. Considering this is one of my favorite game series and that Remedy, the developer of the game sold the franchise rights to Rockstar, who are now in charge of game development, I'll post a list on what I think the game seems to be doing right and what it's doing wrong. I'll keep it short and simple.

Guest Review 2 - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona

Now, before I drive you onwards onto Persona's trial and execution, I'd just like to say a few words about the tragedy that is the gaming industry geared towards the PSP system. If we had to find an analogy to explain how this industry works, we could say that it's the tale of two lovers that, when together, live wondrous tales of passion and happiness, but during that time when they're apart, their entire purpose is to find different ways to backstab each other or new original ways of how to rape their loved one with a rake. You see, when Sony first released the Psp, they had a different set of ideas in motion to make huge loads of cash, but unfortunately for them, most of these were all foiled by the so called "homebrewing community" (a denomination adopted by 12 year old teen pirates to make them feel important), so, since then, Sony (together with every gaming company in the world, or so it seems) has been trying to find new ways to counter the console's huge piracy ratio, or in simpler words, to "buttfuck" you, the nice paying costumer, who doesn't give a shit about piracy and just wants to have fun with your games, in every way possible and still make a load of green with it.

When even 11 year olds have tutorials around the youtube to teach you how to crack your psp,
you know there's something very wrong with this console.

Guest Review - Ultima VII: The Black Gate

So, one of these last days, while cruising through the endless seas that are the internet, I came across (again) upon a discussion between fans of the western rpg community and the eastern or Japanese rpg fan community base, as to which one of these was the better type of rpg and why. While I may add that this debate was as civilized and rational as you'd expect it to be coming from a bunch of 13 year old basement dwellers, what really grinded my gears was that the western rpg fans had no knowledge whatsoever of good examples to complement their own opinions with. Well, to put it into simpler terms, fallout 3, oblivion and mass effect, while good games, ARE NOT "THE BEST RPGS EVER CREATED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME" AND YOU'RE AN IMBECILE IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE. Seriously, it pity's me to see that these newer generations will be marking these 3 games as the pinnacle of western rpgs, when there are so much more important tittles (and more entertaining too) to be found throughout these last decades. And to show you I'm not just shoving dust into your eyes, I'm going to prove it by reviewing this little gem right here, so just try and stop me! (Update: It came into my attention that you can close your web browser by clicking on the little cross on your right upper corner, so in a way, it's actually possible to stop me by ignoring me. Well, you win this round!)

Typical answers you'll be finding on the JRPG's side.
It saddens me to see how these people are allowed access to a PC and internet connection.

Guest Writer

Remember when I said in my introductory post that I used to write in a now defunct game reviewing page?

Well, you didn't. That's why I just said it. See, there was actually a pretty hefty team working on reviews when the page took its first steps and now most of them either quit or began other reviweing blogs like myself.

Except a lazy, lazy friend of mine who didn't had the initiative to start his own blog but still wants to show his opinions of certain gaming gems. So he asked me to post his stuff on my blog and since I'm a lazy prick myself, I gladly accepted with a smirk on my face. Meaning the next 3 updates on my blog will be game reviews from my good friend Scythe.

Word of advice: Don't take the reviews themselves very serious since his writing style can be...a little unorthodox.

Castlevania - Order of Ecclesia

Is it worth it to hit Dracula in the head while healing life threatening injuries with haute cuisine that came out the ground? Find out in this review.

Ah, good old Castlevania. Jumpin’, eatin’ and whippin’ never gets old. And since Konami went with the amazing effort of doing absolutely nothing for the game’s 25th anniversary, I’m gonna go ahead and write a review of my personal favorite Castlevania title.

BUT FIRST.

A little history.

Bionic Commando

Will this blast from the past make as much of an impression today as it did 20 years ago? Read all the different ways I wrote “no, it didn’t” in this review

And here we are reviewing another Capcom game. I like Capcom, unlike the entire gaming community these days. Could like it better if they had their shit together and actually spent time to make sure that the games of popular franchises they make are a reliable product for the established fans. And Bionic Commando got shafted in that regard.

Unlike Devil May Cry, I don’t particularly like this game series that much but I reckon it deserves a little background information since it´s one of those cult classics that someone is always going to talk about.

The original Bionic Commando was one of the great games of the Nintendo era, mostly because the guys making the game were thinking outside the box. Simply put, Bionic Commando was a side scrolling 2D action platformer where you couldn´t jump.

And apparently that was awesome.

Devil May Cry 4

What do you get when you cross an effeminate lead character, cheesy rock music and giant monsters trying to kill the human race? A decent action game, apparently.

One game that’s making a pretty big stir in the video game community nowadays is the reboot of the Devil May Cry franchise, the infamous DmC. Now, while I’m not sure how good or bad the actual game will be since it’s pretty early to properly judge anything, I can safely say that the game doesn’t look as appealing or just plain good as the ludicrous, surreal stylish bonanza that the last 2 games were.

That said, while we wait for this sure to be financial train wreck to come out so we can finally give a proper opinion, why don’t I give my opinion about the last game of the series?

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Is Arkham Asylum be a game worthy of the character that once carried giant ACME bombs away to safety in the 60’s?

So here’s how I’m really starting this thing. A triple A game that pretty much everyone loved, reviewers and gamers alike. Not exactly what you’d call a particularly interesting start since what you’re going to read here is probably going to sound familiar but you can’t argue with quality. Hell, this game singlehandedly renewed the gaming community’s faith that a genuinely good super hero game could be made in this generation of gaming.

And with Arkham City just around the corner, maybe this little review will remind you what you really enjoyed about this game in the first place.

The obligatory introduction post

Well, what do you know. Another Blogger just dying to talk about his very own video game reviews. What a novelty, huh?

Wait a minute! Don't click away from the blog just yet, I'm not your average amateur video game reviewing blogger like the common riff raff out there....I'm an average amateur video game reviewing blogger that contributed to a failed video game review site! So don't worry about the lack of credentials or the fact that you have no fucking clue who i am because i obviously know what i'm doing and i'm certainly not wasting anyone's time.

With that out of the way, i guess the reason i'm doing this is because i kinda like speaking my mind about video games and related stuff, without trying to come off as much of a douchebag or a tool of the industry. I mean, we've come to a point as a gamer that when we're undecided about getting this or that game, we're either limited to "official" gaming sites and their flawed video game reviews with numerical scores or your run-of-the-mill Vlog angry reviewer whose concept of fun is literally not having fun and screaming about it. Not that I'm doing something terribly original here but i pretty much just want to say if the game I'm currently (re)playing is worth it or not. So I'm not even talking about reviewing the latest, hottest game out there, it's not about trying to keep up with the current flavor of the week. It's just that I'm stashed with games, old and new, and i want to say my piece about the ones i liked or disliked the most, with some nerd rage, shitty jokes and poor comedy in-between.

Pretty simple reason, huh? That's what I'm sticking to, let's see how it goes. The first review should be up shortly, it should give you an idea how I'm planning to handle my reviews. Then again, you probably already alt-f4'ed from the blog so I'm probably just talking to myself at this point, begging me to give myself a chance.
